Aluminum Oxide
Aluminum oxide with the chemical formula Al2O3 is one of the most abundant and most widely used aluminum compounds in the world with many applications in the manufacture of aluminum, ceramic, and tile. Mineral Al2O3 is named Bauxite or alumina, which is a very useful mineral in industry and the production of pure Al2O3 and hydroxide.
How to produce aluminum oxide
Al2O3 is produced by using raw aluminum oxide material. First, the bauxite in the factory is converted to aluminum hydroxide, Al(OH)3, then aluminum hydroxide is transferred to the rotary kiln. When the temperature reaches 800 degrees Celsius, aluminum hydroxide turns into a gamma phase. If the furnace temperature rises above 1300 degrees Celsius, the alpha Al2O3 forms.
It should also be noted that Al2O3 dissolves in sulfuric acid.
