Lime hydrator

Main Components

Lime hydrator is used to combine quicklime (CaO) with water and produce hydrated lime. Hydrators are designed based on the amount of quicklime entering the device as well as the size of the inlet feed and are usually made in layers and have the following four parts.

Pre-composition (contact of water with lime and initial reaction)
Complete composition (location of the main water compound with calcium oxide and completion of the reaction)
Cooling (place of cooling and complete mixing of hydrated lime)
Dust collection system (separation of lime dust from the reaction of water with quicklime)
Important factors in design

In the design of the hydrator, the dust from the reaction must be completely controlled to prevent product wastage and environmental pollution, because due to the strong reaction of water with boiled lime and increasing the temperature to about 300 degrees Celsius, a lot of dust is created. Also, the length and number of layers of the hydrator and the speed of material passing through the device should be adjusted depending on the amount of lime entering.

Inlet water flow rate, location, and method of water injection are also very important in the design of the hydrator. Because the lack of proper design of the device will cause problems during production.
