Zinc chloride
Zinc chloride with the chemical formula ZnCl2 is an inorganic compound with white crystals. Nine different crystalline forms of this compound have been identified. This chemical is completely soluble in water and also strongly dissolves in alcohol. This compound plays an important role in the synthesis of organic chemicals. Density is 2.907 g / cm3 and melts at 290 °C.
ZnCl2 can retain 1, 1.5, 2.5, 3, or 4 water molecules in its crystal structure.

It irritates the skin and causes flaky skin. ZnCl2 also causes indigestion, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and smoke inhalation can cause lung damage.
ZINC CHLORIDE PRODUCTION METHOD
This chemical can be produced by the hydrochloric acid reaction with metal or zinc compounds such as zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide, zinc carbonate, or zinc sulfide.
Zn (s) + 2HCl (l) → ZnCl 2 (l) + H 2 (g)
ZnS (s) + 2HCl (aq) → ZnCl 2 (aq) + H 2 S (g)
It is possible to synthesis ZnCl2 by indirect reactions. For example, the reaction between calcium chloride and zinc sulfate produces ZnCl2 and calcium sulfate (gypsum).
CaCl 2 (aq) + ZnSO 4 (aq) → ZnCl 2 (aq) + CaSO 4 (S)
The above reaction is more favorable due to no gas production including chlorine and smoke and consequently fewer health risks, as well as the absence of unwanted by-products.
The resulting solution is filtered using the high-pressure filter to separate precipitated calcium sulfate. Then, the filtrate, zinc chloride solution, is concentrated, and after cooling and crystal formation, it is centrifuged and the final product of ZnCl2 is ready.
